Are you a Victim or a Potential Target?

You have RECOGNIZED A FRAUD, now what do you do?

If you think you are a victim of a fraud don’t ignore it, REPORT IT!

You may or may not get your money back, but maybe you can stop someone else from becoming a victim. Here’s what you can do.

 
If your credit card, banking card, or other services have been compromised or stolen.
advise all of your service providers- credit card company, cellular phone company, cable company, bank.
check your credit activity with the credit bureaus and if necessary put a fraud alert on your file.
contact your local police services and ask for the Fraud Department.
report the fraud through either PHONEBUSTERS www.phonebusters.com or the RCMP www.recol.ca.
If you have been asked to cash a cheque for a lottery prize, asked to take money from your account to help take money out of a country, pay money for employment, or other frauds

If you have a problem with a business not providing you the goods or services that you paid for,
contact your provincial or territorial business services or Ministry responsible for consumer issues.
